As children living in the Bay Area, most of you have likely heard of Costco. In case some of you haven’t, Costco is a membership-based grocery store that generally offers cheaper goods than market competitors, selling all kinds of goods from food to furniture to clothing and much more. However, the place that we go most often when we visit Costco is their food court, which is generally open based on the store’s hours (Monday-Friday 10:00 AM – 8:30 PM, Saturday 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM, and Sunday 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM). The food court offers a variety of food that can either serve as a snack, a meal, or a dessert. In this article, we will be discussing the top ten food items found on the food court’s menu.
Note: This ranking is based mostly on our opinion, and a little bit on affordability. Please do not take it too seriously.
Chicken Bake ($3.99)
- This hearty option is filling and flavorful, featuring chicken, cheese, and Caesar dressing in a baked breadstick-like form. It’s delicious and definitely the tastiest item on the menu. It’s also a good value for the portion size.
Hot Dog and Drink Combo ($1.50)
- This is the best value deal on the menu. You get a large hot dog and a drink—a classic Costco offering for years. It’s hard to beat in terms of value as the price hasn’t changed since 1985! So don’t expect a price hike anytime soon!
Chocolate chip cookie ($2.49)
- It’s tasty, but given the simplicity, it doesn’t offer as much value as some of the other more filling options. However, once fresh out of the oven, it’s crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside, ultimately placing it third on this list.
Soda ($0.69)
- The price is unbeatable for a large fountain drink. It offers a variety of sodas such as pepsi, mountain dew, and lemonade. Furthermore, they have unlimited refills for only 69 cents! When paired with another menu item, it enhances the value of the overall meal.
Pizza ($1.99-$9.95)
- Whether a slice or whole, Costco’s pizza is well-loved for its generous size and copious toppings. It’s a popular choice for both individual meals and sharing. Although it’s not the most gourmet pizza, it still gives a generous amount of cheese compared to My Green Lunch pizza.
Ice cream cup ($1.99)
- It’s a classic dessert option and has a decent value for soft-serve ice cream. It’s not overly sweet and is pretty filling due to its size.
Ice cream sundae ($2.49)
- The sundae is a great dessert option with a good portion size for the price. Toppings like chocolate or strawberry sauce add to its appeal; however, we believe that the sauce is too sweet and upsets the balance of a normal ice cream cup, thus placing it below the classic vanilla ice cream cup
Turkey Swiss Sandwich ($6.99)
- While the sandwich is packed and made with quality ingredients, it is on the expensive side compared to the other options on the menu. It also doesn’t stand out as much as some of the more classic Costco offerings.
Fruit Smoothie ($2.99)
- The smoothie is a refreshing option but isn’t as substantial as some of the other choices, so it might not feel as worth the price compared to a hot meal. Furthermore, its options are limited to whatever fruit is in season at the time.
Rotisserie Chicken Caesar Salad ($6.99)
- This is a pricier option, yet it offers a full meal with a mix of protein and vegetables. It’s healthier than some other menu items but might not feel as much of a “good deal” compared to other options.
In short, Costco’s food court offers a vast range of tasty and affordable options that can satisfy a quick snack craving or serve as a full meal. While this ranking is based on personal preferences and value for money, it’s meant to give you a fun look at some popular choices. So, whether you’ve already tried these options or are just curious to try something new, the above list will give you an idea of what the food court has to offer.
