Red Is the Color of… – Haunted Histories and Strangest Mysteries

By Jocelyn G.

Red is the color of
an apple,
ripe and fresh,
from its stem.
Red is the color of
my nose
when I get
a whiff
of pollen.
Red is the color of
a STOP sign
that makes us
even when we are
on a car
and bound
to be late.
Red is the color of
the substance
that keeps us
Red is the color of
the invisible flame
that engulfs Earth.
The flame we call
climate change.
will be the color of
our tear-streaked faces,
if we fail
to put out
that invisible
seemingly invincible

Jocelyn G. is a 7th grade Capricorn who takes interest in climate action, running, art, reading, and writing– especially fantasy or fiction stories and poetry. She also writes an environmental activism column for an unofficial 7th grade newspaper in hopes that more people are aware and concerned about our current environmental crisis.
