Many of our BISV Bobcats participate in the various clubs that BISV offers, ranging from badminton to computer programming. With all these clubs to choose from, students have the flexibility to mix and match the clubs that they are interested in. Let’s hear from some of the students at BISV about what clubs they decided to choose for this school year.
Chloe S. ‘27, chose to talk about the K-Pop Dance Club. She says the club is about “learning K-Pop choreographies and improving performance and dance skills.” They are also planning on watching K-Pop shows. Currently, they are preparing for the Winter Festival. According to Chloe, “We’re planning on performing the choruses of 4 songs.” As a proud member of this club, I can certainly tell you that it is one of the most enjoyable and relaxing clubs. Just as a shoutout, Chloe is one of the Co-Presidents of this club!
Another 9th grader, Mahika D., is currently a member of the Library Club. For people wondering what this club does, Mahika explains that it is a “super chill club in which we organize the BISV Library and coordinate book drives and other library-related events.” Although the club’s desire for a classroom library was rejected, the club was able to receive a “huge shipment of books and are currently organizing it and preparing to put it in the library.” If you are curious about the BISV library, be sure to join this club! Let’s continue to support the library as it expands.
Although BISV is a highly academic-focused school, BISV students have countless talents besides school subjects, one of which is music. Brian Y. ‘27, who is a member of Music Collaboration Club, talks about how the club “is one where you get to work together with your peers to learn, practice, and perform music pieces.” They just finished assigning the performance groups and are practicing their pieces for their performances at Worldfest next year and senior centers. According to Brian, “every meeting is super chaotic though because there are like five instruments playing at once.” To anyone who has an interest in music and has learned their instruments for a specific number of years as a prerequisite (strings: 2 years; winds: 1 year; piano and percussion: 1 year), it is a good opportunity to join and experience the harmonies of the instruments together.
Switching away from a music related club, the Anatomy Club, is one of the clubs that Joy Z. ‘27 is in. In this club, the members “learn about different systems in the human body and what organs/structures in these systems do, later on in the year I think there are dissections too.” They “covered the nervous system last week, and at the meeting before that, they played a blood typing game (which was kind of lowkey creepy) online when they were learning about the circulatory system.” Here is the link to this game if you want to play: The Blood Typing Game – about blood groups, blood typing and blood transfusions. Overall, this club is very informative and would be a wonderful option for those who are interested or planning to pursue a biology-related career.
Pragyaa B. ‘25, one of the co-presidents of the Red Cross Club, summarizes it in these words, “It is mainly about volunteering with various groups of people and organizations, as well as learning about first aid and disaster preparedness.” They are planning the “Down Syndrome Halloween event, which will have games, performances, and decorations that the club members are making and on the 28th, they will go to a park and have an amazing time.” Last year, this event also took place. It was very interesting, as there were many games and the whole event was really interactive. This year’s event was very similar. There were a lot more people and activities. For example, there was bean bag toss, face painting, Jenga, magic show, etc. I hope this event will continue permanently. A new event this year is going to a senior center to volunteer in December. I am expecting this event to be as enjoyable as the Down Syndrome one. From my experiences in this club, it is a fantastic opportunity for students who want to get their volunteer hours and also learn about basic first-aid responses.
The clubs that are mentioned above are just a small portion of all the amazing clubs that BISV provides. Read through the club descriptions when registering and really consider what interests you. It is likely that you will find many clubs that match your preferences. Hope this article gives you inspiration for clubs that you want to join in the future!
