There are only two (or maybe three?) mainstream holidays that heavily feature candy: Easter and Halloween. With that out of the way, let’s discuss the candies that are commonly found on Halloween!
Disclaimer: This tier list is built off of MY OPINION (Brady Y.), and while my opinion IS better than yours, all opinions are respected
As there are way too many candies for me to cover in one article, I’ll just talk about some of the hits and some of the more average candies.
Starting off in the S tier, for the more chocolatey candies we have Reeses Pieces, 3 Musketeers, Hershey’s regular and Hershey’s Cookies and Creme, Milky Way, and Whoppers.
Notably, anything by Reese’s is in first place, which is probably the most agreed-upon thing by anyone (seriously, I checked so many online rankings and they all love Reese’s Pieces as well). If you’re allergic to peanuts, then I’m terribly sorry you can’t experience the peak candy that is Reese’s Pieces.
My personal favorites that fall in the S rank are Swedish Fish, 3 Musketeers, and Milky Way, which offer satisfaction in the gummy, nougat, and caramel categories respectively.
Moving onto A, we have a lot more general candies that most people would agree with, as is true for all the S to B tier candies. Once again, this is my opinion.
The only reason Nerds, Haribo, Jolly Ranchers, and Skittles aren’t higher is because they’re genuinely so sweet they make my teeth hurt, but they are all very nice fruity candies.
M&M’s also fall into this category, as I think Hershey’s bars are just better.
Warheads also belong here as once again, this is my list. I know people have very differing views towards sour candies (especially ones as sour as warheads), but in my opinion, part of the enjoyment is the extremity.
In B tier we have some more average candies, including fruity tootsie rolls, Laffy Taffy, Heath, and others that are simply inferior to the options in A and S.
If you were to think about it, all candies are meant to satisfy a niche. Those are chocolate, fruity, nougat, caramel, peanuts, etc etc.
The options in the B tier simply don’t provide as much to those niches as the ones in A and S do.
In our last two tiers are the candies that I honestly wouldn’t even eat, and would rather just throw away.
(also there’s a mistake here, Snickers should be A tier)
Although Crunch and Ring Fingers are candies that I really enjoyed when I was like 10, I’m almost 18 now (so honestly I shouldn’t even be writing about this), so my tastes have changed and they’ve fallen off.
DOTS, Almond Joys, Hot Tamales, and candy corn are all instant-trash items, like seriously I can’t think of any reason to eat them.
DOTS and candy corn genuinely make me nauseous, and Hot Tamales are just way too spicy to be considered candy.
Everything in the ???? tier are either items I don’t know about or items that I’ve never gotten when trick-or-treating. (Sorry to those who get apples or toothbrushes, I truly pray for you.)
Anyways, thanks for listening to my long ramble on which candies are good and which are bad!!! If you disagree, that’s great! You can discuss it with me whenever you want! However, just keep in mind that I am more correct than you, especially on such a topic as this.
But in all seriousness, Halloween candies are generally really good. After all, it’s candy. This tier list shown is just my opinion, but if you enjoy something, keep doing what you’re doing, and don’t let anyone stop you! I hope everyone has fun on Halloween and eats a reasonable amount of candy!
