Alas! The brutal college application season is OVER! Seniors are freed. No more applications. No more essays. The question now turns to what they will do with so much free time on their hands, especially after T3, when most of them don’t even have to show up to school anymore! Let’s interview some of the seniors in our beloved Journalism Club and find out!
Let’s start off with our amazing Editors-in-Chief!
“pursue my hobbies, learn new things, get my driver’s license, hang out with friends, travel” – Nishka J.
“I’ll read a lot more, catch up on favorite shows, and start working on my bucket list!” – Maximilian G.
“Get a job! Hobby-max. Read and watch movies a lot. Go outside more. Hang out with friends.” – Angela L.
Now let’s see what some of the other members said!
“Rest and try to learn how to drive/get a job. Also prep senior project.” – Christopher X.
“Try to not overthink LOL! Hang out with friends, learn how to drive, explore new hobbies (instead of doom scrolling, which I’m already a pro at), and try to get into journaling (in an effort to live in the present moment a but more haha). Overall, I want to get outta the house and off my devices now that I can!” – Gia B.
“get back to playing games and my hobbies, learn new hobbies and skills, hang out with my friends more, work more hours” – Daksha G.
“Get a job, work on my AP research project, finish up projects for neuro and rhetoric capstone, go on trips with my family, go on trips to see my family, get my financial license, hang out with my friends” – Twisha K.
“Play Hollow Knight, Zelda, maybe Metroid 4 idk, ride my bike around town, learn real analysis from terence tao’s textbook, and exercise because my dad is yelling at me to exercise and my attempts to do pushups go very funnily” – Rui H.
“I’m tryna find a job (like barista or working in casual restaurant chains) but lowkey getting ignored left and right lol. But I am also continuing to do my physics/CS research. I’m also reconnecting with a lot of my old hobbies, like playing piano and playing tennis, and I’m also thinking about getting back into horseback riding. I’m also spending more time with friends. :P” – Chloe L.
Here’s a summary of what I’ve gathered from these responses.
| reconnecting with hobbies | llllllll |
| hanging out with friends | llllllll |
| getting a job | llllll |
| learn new things | llll |
| work on senior project / ap research | llll |
| learning how to drive | lll |
| travel more | lll |
Overall, it seems like most seniors aspire to get a job, hang out with friends, and get back into some hobbies! Personally, like many of the other seniors, I also want to start working, travel to places, hang out with friends, and reconnect with my hobbies like dancing, reading, and crocheting!
Hopefully, this article provided a bit of insight into what seniors are doing nowadays while awaiting their decisions. I’m excited to see what the future brings for them now that school isn’t the complete focus of their lives!
